New Year’s Party Erupts in Gunfire Over Cheating Wife

At a New Year's party, Olivia Clendennon's estranged husband, Zach, and ex-boyfriend, Corey, met and realized they were both romantically involved with her. Instead of animosity, they developed a friendly, respectful conversation, which deeply upset Olivia.

Police interviewed a man at the party who said he believed the shooter was his estranged wife, Olivia, and that he was the target. He explained that Olivia became upset after seeing her husband and boyfriend together at the party where the two men discovered they were both involved with her. Instead of conflict, the men struck up a friendly, respectful conversation and that didn't sit well with Olivia.

Olivia, after leaving the party in a rage, returned just before 5:00 a.m., drove her SUV into the yard, and fired multiple rounds at the house. Daniel Johnson, who was sitting on the front porch, was struck in the abdomen, despite not being the intended target.

Just before 5:00 a.m., investigators say Olivia returned, swung her vehicle around, and opened fire at the house. Police found a man who had been attending a New Year's party shot in the abdomen while sitting on the front porch. He was later identified as Daniel Johnson. Daniel was taken to a local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. Witnesses reported that a woman driving a Jeep pulled into the yard, spun the vehicle, and fired multiple rounds at the home striking Daniel who was not the intended target.

Initially denying knowledge of the shooting and attributing her presence to a car crash, Olivia eventually confessed to firing two shots at the house. She claimed her ex-boyfriend, Corey, gave her the .40 caliber gun to 'scare them off' and that she acted in a fit of rage due to being harassed and bullied by the men.

The officer stated, "There was someone shot tonight... And there was a gun found outside of your car with a magazine and a round." Olivia later confessed, "Corey gave me that gun. That gun was Corey's... To kind of scare scare her... I just shot at that that house, literally. Just the house. I did not know if anybody had gotten hit... Rage, raging nervousness, nerves, just not thinking, being stupid, just everybody in my face, you know, yelling at me, harassing me, bullying me. I just I couldn't take it."

Olivia Clendennon was convicted of attempted murder, felonious assault, and illegal discharge of a firearm, receiving a sentence of 16 to 20 years. During sentencing, both the victim and his mother expressed that Olivia had never offered a genuine apology, a sentiment seemingly confirmed by Olivia's self-focused statement to the court.

In February 2026, Olivia was convicted of attempted murder, two counts of felonious assault, and the illegal discharge of a firearm at a habitation with firearm specifications. During sentencing, the victim and his mother addressed the court. Both claimed Olivia had never offered a genuine apology. Olivia's statement to the court focused on her family, friends, business, and impact on the community, concluding with, "To Deandre, I am very, very glad that he is well after a difficult time he has been through. And I truly hope that he has a great future and I wish him nothing but the best in his future."
