Joy Reid Declares America is ONLY MARGINALLY BETTER Than Iran For Oppressed Black Woman Like Herself

Joy Reid asserted that for women and minorities, America is only 'marginally better' than Iran. She cited U.S. abortion restrictions and historical U.S. intervention in Iran (overthrowing their government in 1953 and imposing the Shah) as reasons for Iran's animosity and the rise of religious movements.

Reid stated, 'For women and minorities in America is only marginally better than being somebody who is living in Iran and under oppression.' She also mentioned, 'Our regime has secret police. They have secret police. Our regime is oppressing women, taking away abortion rights... We're marginally better and we're doing it for Christianity. They're doing it for Islam.'

The host criticizes Joy Reid as a multi-millionaire who claims oppression in the U.S., despite the freedoms she enjoys, such as speaking freely on a podcast. The host argues Reid's comparison of the U.S. to Iran is analytically weak and lacks context, especially given her simultaneous complaint that the media fails to provide context.

The host states, 'She feels like she is a victim in the United States of America despite being a multi-millionaire with no real actual talent.' The host lists: 'In Iran again they have a clerical theocracy. We have competitive elections. They only have candidates that are vetted by religious council... We have multiple parties. We have freedom of speech. They have severe citizenship. We have an independent media. They have a state control media... Women can vote and run for office here. In Iran, women are barred from the presidency. We have religious freedom. And in Iran, religious minorities are persecuted.'

The host challenges Joy Reid, and others who express similar sentiments, to relocate to Iran or the Democratic Republic of Congo if they genuinely believe these countries are only marginally worse or could be 'Wakanda' without Western influence. The host implies Reid's unwillingness to do so demonstrates a lack of genuine conviction in her own statements.

The host asks, 'If she really believes that America is so bad, I don't understand why is it that she doesn't go and live in Iran, right?' He later adds, 'Why don't you go back to Africa, Joy Reed, and turn it into Wakanda, right? since you claim it can be Wakanda without white folks.'
