UPDATE on effort to IMPEACH Kristi Noem

ICE allegedly used a 5-year-old boy, Liam Ramos, wearing a blue hat with bunny ears and a Spider-Man backpack, as bait to apprehend his father. Both were subsequently detained at the Dilly facility in Texas. Congressman Joaquin Castro described these facilities as 'not nice places' and highlighted the difficulty in arranging visits due to ICE's 7-day notification requirement for Congress members and additional 48-hour notice for specific detainees.

The host introduced the story of Liam Ramos, a 5-year-old boy 'used as bait by DHS to be able to get the boy's father.' Congressman Castro confirmed their detention in Dilly, Texas, and described the bureaucratic hurdles in visiting them, including ICE's initial demand for a 5-year-old to sign a consent form.

Congressman Castro states that over 140 Democrats have signed an impeachment resolution against Christine Noem, arguing that ICE has 'executed somebody' (referencing Alex Prey), violated constitutional and human rights, and should be disbanded. He advocates for cutting off ICE's funding as a leverage point to 'clean things up.'

Congressman Castro explicitly stated, 'Christine Gnome should be impeached. There's now, I believe, over 140 Democrats who have signed on to that impeachment resolution.' He added, 'people need to do the right thing and cut off ISIS funding, impeach Christine Gnome.'

The host and Congressman assert that ICE consistently lies about its actions, such as denying using children as bait and fabricating stories about parents abandoning children. They also accuse Republican figures like Christine Noem, JD Vance, and Steven Miller of immediately spreading false narratives about individuals like Alex Prey, claiming he was a 'domestic terrorist' who charged agents and brandished a gun, despite evidence suggesting he was disarmed before being shot.

The host asked for a response to ICE 'trying to claim in the very beginning that they weren't doing exactly what it was they were doing, which is using him as bait.' Congressman Castro responded, 'they've done that in other cases... they're holding on to young kids because they know how much their parent the parents love those kids.' He later cited the 'ease with which they tell these lies' regarding Alex Prey, mentioning 'Christy Nome JD Vance Steven Miller all of these Republican mouthpieces... say that he was a domestic terrorist that he was charging the ICE agents that he was brandishing a gun.'

The host and Congressman attribute ICE agents' 'reckless and lawless' behavior, including an agent mooning protesters, to the perceived legal immunity granted by the administration. They also criticize ICE for being 'terribly undertrained and untrained' and for not disclosing hiring practices, contributing to a culture where agents believe they 'are never going to be prosecuted for anything.'

After showing a clip of an ICE agent mooning protesters, Congressman Castro stated, 'I think that's what happens when you have the president and the vice president stand up and say that no matter what these guys do, they have legal immunity. They're never going to be prosecuted for anything.' He added, 'it's also a group of people who are just terribly undertrained and untrained.'

Donald Trump allegedly contradicted his long-held pro-Second Amendment stance by suggesting that Alex Prey shouldn't have had a gun, despite Prey having a concealed carry permit and being disarmed before his shooting. This shift is framed as a 'Hail Mary' attempt to vilify Prey and absolve ICE agents, even if it means 'cannibalizing their own base.'

The host detailed Trump's statement that 'you can't have guns' as a 'last ditch effort to kind of absolve the ICE agent who shot Alex Prey.' Congressman Castro responded that this shows 'Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans starting to cannibalize even their own base... because out of necessity, they feel like... that's the only thing they can kind of hang their hat on.'
