Crosby states, "it couldn't have been a better place to come just for the fact that it's an unbelievable sports town, but also because we were a group of young guys kind of coming up in the league together." He also mentions the overwhelming airport welcome and the fan support as key factors.

Living with Mario Lemieux early in his career provided Crosby with an invaluable role model who offered stability and an even-keeled perspective away from the rink. This, combined with a strong peer group of young, impactful players, helped alleviate the immense pressure of being a first overall pick and allowed them to grow together.

Crosby explains, "you couldn't have picked a better role model... seeing someone day-to-day that's so even keel living with them... not having to worry about all the little things when you're in your first year." He adds that having other young stars "took pressure off."

As Crosby ages, his approach to off-season training has changed significantly. He finds it harder to take extended time off, preferring to maintain a consistent level of activity to stay in shape. He also acknowledges that he wished he had known more about nutrition and diet when he was younger, indicating a shift towards more disciplined self-care for sustained performance.

Crosby notes, "as I get older, I feel like it's something that it's harder to take time off... it's better if you can just kind of stay in it." He also admits, "I love sweets... I wish I would have known a lot of this stuff when I was younger, for sure."

Crosby observes a significant evolution in NHL hockey, with a greater emphasis now placed on skill and speed. While physical grit remains important, especially in playoff scenarios, the overall game and team compositions reflect a preference for mobile defensemen who can move the puck and create offense, rather than just focusing on defensive aspects like shot-blocking.

Crosby states, "there's a lot more emphasis on skill and speed... maybe a little bit less emphasis on, you know, the physical aspect than maybe, you know, when I first came in." He highlights that "defenseman, they're a lot more mobile probably overall."

Crosby explains, "just big sense of pride when guys get to play for their country... you never know if you're going to get that opportunity. So, I think you just you see that on full display when guys, you know, play for their country."
