Minutes later, two identical cars repeated the action, followed by three identical cars whose occupants, three figures of the same height and build, exited and stared at the group before they were rushed back to the walled village.

Years later, the new owner 'demanding to know what the hell is in that house' because he, his wife, and two kids 'kept seeing uncle around the house' in mirrors.

While walking to a radio tower at 1 AM with the intention of taking his own life, the narrator encountered a terrifying, non-human entity. The creature, described as at least eight feet tall, completely white, and moving with 'superhuman speed,' was seen peeking around an abandoned building. The overwhelming 'primal dread' experienced upon seeing it instantly changed the narrator's mind about suicide, compelling them to leave.

The narrator, on the way to commit suicide, saw 'something that made me stop dead in my tracks. On the far side of the building, something was peeking around the corner, just the upper half of its body. I only saw it for a split second, but it was tall, at least 8 ft, completely white, and not shaped like any animal I've ever seen before.' The experience caused 'The wave of dread that hit me was overwhelming. Not like normal fear. It felt primal' and 'after seeing that thing, I didn't want to die anymore.'

During a summer exploration, the narrator and friends befriended a strange, unkempt boy named Russell. Russell led them to a sinkhole, insisting it was a magical portal to 'Salt City' and demanding one of them jump in. When they tried to leave, Russell became violent, attempting to drag a friend into the sinkhole. The narrator intervened by hitting Russell with a log, knocking him unconscious. The group fled, living with guilt for five years, only to encounter Russell again in high school, where he claimed a 'strong severe compulsion' led his actions.

The narrator recounts meeting Russell, who 'begged and pleaded with us to come with him and see something cool that he'd found' – a massive sinkhole. Russell 'was sort of waxing poetic about how he lived down in the hole' and 'demanding that we jump down in that sinkhole to go there with him.' When they tried to leave, Russell 'tried to grab James and actually drag him back towards that sinkhole.' The narrator 'grabbed the nearest thing I could off the ground, which happened to be a small log, and threw it at Russell' hitting him 'square in the temple' and rendering him unconscious. Five years later, Russell reappeared in high school, claiming 'he had this strong severe compulsion to lead us to the hole and tell us that nonsensical story.'

A lone child in a ghost costume repeatedly trick-or-treated at the narrator's rural home in February. When the narrator eventually challenged the child, an older teenager emerged and violently assaulted the narrator with brass knuckles while the ghost child laughed. A detective later explained this was a gang initiation: the ghost child, believed to be the gang leader's son, would lead targets to challenge the 'Halloween' premise, triggering an assault by a different teenager for initiation.

The narrator describes a 'lone kid trick-or-treating in a classic ghost costume' in February. After a week of this, the narrator confronted the child, saying 'you don't trick-or-treat in February.' The child replied, 'I wasn't supposed to ask that.' Immediately, 'another much older kid stepped around the side of the house and said, 'You don't ask that cuz I said so'' and proceeded to 'punching me with some kind of brass knuckle made out of a chain.' The ghost child 'could hear laughing with some type of glee.' A detective later confirmed it was a 'gang initiation' where 'the ghost kid was the gang leader's own son and supposedly as much of a psycho as his old man.'

On their last year of trick-or-treating, the narrator's friend Chris became unusually insistent on continuing alone after others went home. The next morning, Chris sent a cryptic text, 'Hello, meat pliers,' and then disappeared. Despite repeated attempts to contact him, Chris's mother only stated he was 'sick.' The narrator eventually saw Chris looking 'pale and gaunt' and unlike himself through a window before his family abruptly moved away, leading the narrator to suspect a traumatic event on Halloween night.

The narrator's friend Chris 'did not react well to me declining his offer' to continue trick-or-treating alone. The next morning, Chris sent a text 'Hello, meat pliers.' Chris then became unreachable, with his mother claiming he was 'sick.' The narrator later saw Chris through a window, noting 'he didn't actually look like Chris anymore. Even from down his driveway, I could see how pale and gaunt he looked.' Chris's family then 'were leaving town.' The narrator speculates 'what he'd really meant to text was, 'Help me, please.'

While staying with her aunt and cousin Serena, the six-year-old narrator was manipulated by Serena, who claimed to have pledged her soul to Satan to protect the narrator from demons. Serena convinced the narrator that their Auntie June was evil and instructed the narrator to secretly poison June with 'holy berries' (deadly nightshade) by putting them in her food. The narrator, attempting to dispose of the berries, accidentally poisoned herself by tasting the juice, leading to hospitalization and the discovery of Serena's severe mental illness.

The narrator recounts Serena giving her 'a small baggie with three berries in it' and telling her 'these were holy berries blessed by God and that we needed to make sure Auntie June ingested them.' Serena 'made me swear on my life and the lives of my mother and father.' The narrator, trying to dispose of them, 'tasted a little little taste of the juice on my tongue' and 'waking up in a hospital with these terrible, terrible stomach pains and barely being able to breathe.' It was later revealed Serena 'was eventually diagnosed with a handful of serious mental illnesses' and the berries were 'deadly nightshade.'

A disruptive student, 'Durst,' obsessed with Limp Bizkit, performed a profanity-laden song ('Hot Dog') in front of his beloved, elderly music teacher, Mrs. Beaton. Immediately after the performance, Mrs. Beaton suffered a massive heart attack and brain aneurysm, collapsing and dying in front of the class. Despite not being intentionally caused, the students and Durst himself believed his behavior directly led to her death, leading to lasting guilt and bullying.

The narrator describes Durst's 'memorized word-perfect singalong to Limp Biscuit's titular track, Hot Dog' in Mrs. Beaton's music class. Immediately after, Mrs. Beaton 'gripped her chest suddenly and viscerally,' let out a 'strangled cry, and dropped to the ground, a dead weight.' She 'had suffered a massive, devastating heart attack and a brain aneurysm.' The students and Durst 'would swear it occurred as a result of sudden trauma' and 'Durst killed Mrs. Beaton.'

After moving into a new house, the narrator was confronted on Halloween night by a masked figure pointing a shotgun at their kitchen window. The figure did not fire and fled when a car door slammed. A police officer from the gang task force later explained that the narrator's house had been previously occupied by gang members. The masked individual was likely a rival gang member or enforcer who, upon seeing a civilian, chose not to fire to avoid escalating police attention.

The narrator recounts seeing 'a lone figure wearing a ski mask in dark clothing, and he was pointing what looked to be some kind of short black shotgun at the window.' The figure did not fire and fled. A police officer 'from the city's gang task force' explained that 'my home's previous occupants had been gang members and had only vacated a matter of weeks before I moved in' and the gunman 'recognized that I wasn't anyone he was looking for. And rather than murder a civilian and bring down even more heat on them, the trigger man had the wherewithal to not do his job.'
